Quick, Delicious, Nutritious Breakfast Smoothie!!

These days I don't have much time to spare.... with soccer going full speed ahead, the kids' social calendars, hubby's schedule, my exercising and studying for my PT exam time is always of essence.  It is vitally important to make time to get in a healthy, nutritious breakfast on a daily basis.  Sometimes i'll make a breakfast sandwich (whole grain english muffin, turkey sausage or turkey bacon, 1 egg and low fat cheese), grab a breakfast bar, a bowl of oatmeal or cream of wheat OR a nice bowl of cereal.  Here lately i've been on a smoothie kick!  They're quick, healthy and packed full of nutrition!!!  Here's one that I made today and I thought i'd share it with you:

Strawberry Banana Breakfast Smoothie

~ voskos plain greek yogurt,
~ a splash of 2% milk
~ 1 small banana
~ frozen strawberries
~ 1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean Honey w/ Flaxseed Cereal
~ 1/2 cup of crushed ice...
Yummmm! Feel free to add a tsp of agave nectar if you want to sweeten it a bit. Only 165 cals per glass... this makes 2 glasses! I drank 1 glass pre workout and 1 glass post workout. This smoothie was full of protein and extra vitamins from the kashi cereal but you can add protein powder to it if you'd like.  Some other healthy additions would be pineapple, spinach, kale (a friend recommended I try this), chia seeds, blueberries, mango and any other fruit or nutritious veggie you'd like.  Have fun with it and ENJOY!!!!

I'll be sure to take pix and share recipes for all of the other smoothies I try in the weeks to come.

MY RAVENS!!!!!

So, I know it's been a while since I last posted anything.... I've been soooooo busy with life that it's hard to keep up with posting.  All is well over here.  The girls' soccer seasons are about to be in full swing!  My eldest daughter has already had 2 soccer tournaments over the past 3 weeks and they won both of them.  She scored the winning goal in the Championship overtime game!  I can't even begin to describe the emotions behind that! Here are a few pics from that tournament:

The following weekend, we celebrated my sons 11th birthday!  He had an aweome football party (it happened to be Super Bowl Weekend) at a sports themed location with tons of friends.  Here are a few birthday pics from his special day:

A little haircut :-)

Yup, I cut my hair 3 weeks ago and it's already growing back.  I may go in and cut some length off in the front in the coming weeks.... Nope, it wasn't damaged or breaking off.  I just wanted a change :-)

Weekly Motivation!!!

Hi all!  I pray that life is treating you well.... I just wanted to share a little insight as to what my weekly workout will consist of over the next 5 days.  I set a goal this week to burn 3000+ cals oveer the next 5-6 days.  For each workout (an hour or more per day) I plan to burn anywhere from 500-600 cals. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!  I would looooove to complete this within 5 days so that I can enjoy my weekend with my family.  I plan to do my normal cardio on my treadmill that will be a mixture of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), Distance/Endurance Training, Strength Training (using both my body and weights in my garage.... focusing on upper and lower body), Resistance Training and Calisthenics (pushups, crunches, situps, stretching and etc...).  I will also increase my water intake while incorporating more veggies and fruits.  Here lately, hubby and I have been incorporating fresh salads and soups into out eating plan and it has been quite satisfying.  Eating lean meats (mostly chicken & turkey) as well as seafood (mainly fish), staying away from fried food, fast food and red meat will also be a part of our plan.

We're not only focusing on weight loss, but having an overall healthier lifestyle with realistic goals.  Having rest days is also crucial to our overall fitness so we will be sure to get those in as well. If you would like to join hubby and I on this weekly workout schedule, c'mon and get moving!!!

I am more than halfway through with my Personal Training Certification Course and I am sooooo excited about completing it and becoming certified.  I can't wait to begin to share more information with you all... stay tuned!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

I'm on the go as usual BUT I just wanted to stop by and say Happy Holidays to you all!!!!  2012 was an AWESOME year for my family & I and i'm looking for God to do even more AWESOME things in 2013!!!!  I hope to set aside more time to update on my blog, youtube and facebook pages/channel as well as completing at least 1 half marathon, obtaining my certification in Personal Training, continuing on my healthy body/healthy hair regime and being the best mom/wife/daughter/sister/child of CHRIST I can truly be!!!!!  My eyes were opened to a lot of things in 2012, friendships were severed/diminished, some people walked in and OUT of my life and life threw me some curveballs.... BUT GOD's presence never left me!  He continued to open doors for me, unexpected blessings were sent my way, my HEALTH is at an all time high, i'm feeling better than I ever have, my outlook is positive, there were no deaths in my family, i've grown (and will continue to grow spiritually), my husband and kids are alive and well.... God is just so good!!! I'm expecting GREAT things this year so look for those updates as they unfold :-)
